Η BCCI αρνείται αναφορές σχετικά με τα γεγονότα των κεφαλαίων ACC

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia has categorically denied the reports of withdrawing from the Men’s Asia Cup and the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

BCCI yet to take a call on Asia Cup

Earlier today, it was reported that the BCCI has contacted the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and pulled out of the two events due to the tensions between India and Pakistan. This isn’t true at all. The BCCI has currently diverted all its focus to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and the upcoming England Test Tour and isn’t thinking about ACC events right now, as per him.

“Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news items about BCCI’s decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both ACC events. Such news are devoid of any truth, as till now, the BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps regarding ensuing ACC events, let alone writing anything to the ACC. At this stage, our prime focus is on the ongoing IPL and subsequent England series, both men and women,” Saikia told the Times of India.

The Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup is set to be played in Sri Lanka next month. But the venue of the Men’s Asia Cup hasn’t been confirmed yet. That’s because India were the hosts, but since the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have agreed upon playing cricket at neutral venues only, the tournament will take place somewhere else in September.

“The Asia Cup matter or any other ACC event issue has not come up for discussion at any level; hence, any news or report on that is purely speculative and imaginary. It may be said that the BCCI, as and when any discussion on any ACC events takes place and any important decision is reached, the same will be announced through the media,” Saikia added.
