In a massive update, the BCCI has issued caution to all the stakeholders of the IPL, that there are attempts to lure individuals into engaging in corrupt activities, as per a report in Cricbuzz. Taking account of the same, the board has already cautioned the franchise owners, players, support staff, and even the commentators, that a businessman with questionable record, could be actively looking to get in touch with them.

Businessman Approaches Players in IPL 2025?

Thee Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) feels that the so-called businessman is from Hyderabad, and has links to bookies and has been allegedly been involved in such activities before too. To avoid any chances of any malpractice, the ACSU has warned all the participants before hand.

If any approaches do happen from the mentioned party, then they are urged to inform such advancements. There seems to be clarity on the modus operandi as well, where the individual could try to lure players of coaches with expensive jewellery and gifts. There are also attempts by the individual, to get close the team and participants, by posing as a fan.

NO Smoke Without Fire, Some Incidents Have Come to Light

Not just that, the businessman has also been spotted at the team hotels and in the matches, trying to befriend the players and the staff, inviting them to private parties. There are also incidents of him presenting gifts to not only the players, but their families as well.

The report further suggests that there have been attempts from this individual, to contact the relatives of the players or coaches living abroad, through social media platforms.
